Anna Hazare extends support to Yogendra Yadav, Prashant Bhushan’s Jai Kisan Andolan – Swaraj Abhiyan.


New Delhi: Social activist Anna Hazare on Thursday extended his support to the farmers’ movement launched by Swaraj Abhiyan, leadersYogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan, which has been campaigning against the land bill across nation and which will be entering its second phase by beginning a Tractor March form Punjab to Parliament in Delhi strarting 1st of Aug and  reaching Delhi on 10th Aug. 2015.

Hazare’s support came as a “big boost” for the movement which is scheduled to culminate in form of a tractor march till Parliament on August 10.

The veteran anti-graft crusader advised the group to combine “Jai Kisan with Jai Jawan”, which he said are the most neglected sections of the society. Later this year, he will be sitting on an indefinite fast for speedy implementation of One Rank One Pension (OROP).

“Big boost for Jai Kisan andolan: Anna Hazare extends his support. Gave kalash of earth from his village. Gratified!” Yadav tweeted.

Through a recorded message, Hazare supported the specific demands of the movement including withdrawal of the Land Acquisition (Amendment) Bill, mandating minimum income for farmers and assured compensation against crop damage.

The tractor march is scheduled to be flagged off from Punjab’s Sangrur on August 1, following which it will make its way through Uttar Pradesh before reaching the national capital.

Anna Hazare extends his support to Swaraj Abhiyan’s Jai Kisan Andolan

Well known social activist Anna Hazare has extended his support to the Jai Kisan Andolan, being undertaken by Swaraj Abhiyan to raise the issues of farmers plight. As a mark of support to the movement, Anna filled a kalash of earth from his village Ralegan Siddhi to the Swaraj Abhiyan Maharashtra volunteers accompanied by Maruti Bhapkar and Manav Kamble. Later they also visited Shri Popat Rao Pawar, the sarpanch of Hiware Bazar, a model of swaraj. He also supported Jai Kisan Andolan and contributed a kalash of earth from the village.


In a telephonic discussion with Yogendra Yadav, Anna expressed his heartfelt support to the cause of farmers’ being taken up by the Jai Kisan Andolan. He advised the Abhiyan to combine Jai Kisan with Jai Jawan, as these two sections are the most neglected sections of our society. Yogendra Yadav later tweeted expressing gratitude and termed Anna’s support as a big boost to the Jai Kisan Andolan.

Anna also recorded a message supporting the specific demands of Jai Kisan Andolan, ie, Rollback of Land Acquisition (Amendment) Bill, Minimum Income Guarantee Act for farmers and Assured & Comprehensive Compensation against Crop Damage due to any natural calamity.
The first phase of farmers contact programme of Jai Kisan Andolan is in its last lap. So far our volunteers have reached almost 4000 villages and enrolled about 15,000 farmers. More than 40 farmers organisation have extended their support to the movement. The second phase of Jai Kisan Andolan will begin with a March from Punjab’s Thikriwal village in Barnala district on 1st August. The March will conclude in a big rally in Delhi on the 10th of August.
