Kya Sirf Hindi Hogi Sarkar Ki Zaban ? Khisiyani Billi Khamba Noo-chey. Karuana Jaya Bhadkey Tamil Mein aur Modi Samjehen Gujarati Mein. Aur Hindustani Urdu Mein.

imagesCHENNAI:  On one hand The Union home ministry’s directive to bureaucrats to use Hindi as social media language is against the letter and spirit of the Official Languages Act, 1963, according to Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa.

The official language department and coordination division of the Union ministry of home affairs issued office memoranda in March (during the previous UPA regime) and May, directing that official accounts on social media like Facebook, Twitter, blogs, Google+ and YouTube should compulsorily use Hindi, or both Hindi and English, with Hindi being written above or first.

“This makes the use of Hindi mandatory and English optional,” Jayalaltihaa said in a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday. The chief minister requested him to ensure that instructions were suitably modified to ensure that English was used on social media.”As you are aware, this is a highly sensitive issue and causes disquiet to the people of Tamil Nadu who are very proud of and passionate about their linguistic heritage,” she said.

Bqf1qdGCMAAb5Qw (1)In the wake of such a controversy it makes me difficult to understand what is the object the Modi Govt looking at achieving by making Hindi alone language of Departmental Communication on Social Media  by Govt of Modi.  India has equal in some cases with the youth use of English is more responsive than Hindi. This is a non issue such dictates the Govt is sowing seed of divide on an issue which had great resistance even at the time of Independence India is a mufti language nation and it has to respect all its languages and cultures.

The ethos of unity in diversity is our core believe as a nation and their is space for all and it has to be so. With English and Hindi are the president and is acceptable to all why create a bone of contention and give air to demands of all regional languages and most read and spoken languages be included as the third and fouth languages at state level and national level

DMK chief Karunanidhi earlier in the day criticised the Narendra Modi government of ‘promoting’ Hindi language by overlooking other regional languages. Rijiu, however, argued that Hindi being the official language needed to be promoted but it was not being done by discouraging regional languages.

Karunanidhi lambasted the Home Ministry over its directives to political leaders asking them to use Hindi for interaction on social media platforms. He accused the government of imposing the Hindi language on other states and treating non-Hindi speakers as second class citizens.

No directive that Hindi must be the dominating language: MHA

Karunanidhi had criticised the Narendra Modi government of promoting Hindi language by overlooking other regional languages.

He said the Modi government should maintain its focus on delivering economic and social development. “All well wishers want Modi to focus on economic and social development. Language battlefields have not yet dried. History has recorded anti – Hindi agitation. Can we forget Nehru’s assurance that English would be official language as long as non Hindi speakers want? No attempt made to make official language of states as official languages of Centre,” said the party chief.

Not just Tamil Naidu leaders even Farooq Abdullah is averse to the making Hindi as the language of communications of the government on Social Media Hindi. He said India is a nation of several languages and it is not necessary all understand and speak Hindi.

Govt has many issue to tackle its running in to controversial issues like this and prompting the non Hindi belt specially the south and western states and north east it is only opening a Pandora box of resistances. Understanding the intensity of the repercussions on this matter. it is ironic that the Minister of Sate Home gave a quick denial of the directive. An example of mis governance and un planned and not rightly thought action of Modi Sarkar. Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju dismissed any directive issued by the government to declare Hindi as the dominating language. “The controversy on Hindi is unwarranted. There is no directive that Hindi must be the dominating language. We want every language to get due importance,” he said.

This is like the saying Khisiyani Billi Khamba Nocheye one step ahead and many behind. Modi Govt is starting to loose friends non his alleys from the non Hindi belt will agree to this adventure of happening.
